Description :

The Avalon property used to serve as a hotel to commercial airline passengers and pilots using the Dutchess County Airport. With the expansion of Stewart International Airport, flight traffic left Dutchess County Airport, and the hotel was underutilized. At that time, Azzy and Paula Reckess, local residents, acquired the property in 1998. By 2001, the Reckess family had gut-renovated the residential wing, and expanded the property with new construction, and opened the Avalon Assisted Living & Wellness Center.
